We would like to congratulate our Designer, Maura McDaniel, on her 1st anniversary with TEN x TEN!

Maura has shared her favorite parts of working for TxT, along with some other fun facts:

In my first year with TxT, one of the most fulfilling pieces has been getting to work and collaborate with such sincere and passionate people – both the TxT team and our collaborators and clients that share a similar vision. Translating these shared values of care and environmental stewardship into real, built places has been an absolute dream!

What is your favorite vacation destination? I love to go on road trips and camp! There is such a beautiful diversity of people, places, and landscapes across the US. I find that when I’m driving across the country, I’m more likely to encounter unexpected experiences and hidden gems that I wouldn’t have otherwise noticed.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? One of my new hobbies this year has been growing cut flowers in my yard! Curating little flower arrangements as they bloom has been such a fun and rewarding creative outlet.

What is your favorite natural landscape feature? Recently, I’ve been completely engrossed in the world of stone. I love how stone holds stories of geologic time, where traces of long-gone water and winds have carved out the river bluffs that we see today.

What is the best book you’ve read recently? One of my favorite books that I recently finished is The Deluge by Stephen Markley. While it envisions a bleak future plagued with climate disasters that seems not far from our own trajectory, it also brings moments of solidarity and compassion, telling the story through an utterly human perspective.
