We would like to congratulate our Associate, Sydney Shea, on her 5th anniversary with TEN x TEN!

Since joining the TxT team in 2020, Sydney has played a key role in many award-winning projects, including the Treetop Trail at the Minnesota Zoo, the Wisdom Woods Vision + Communications Plan, and the Dakota Homeland Frames.

Sydney has been instrumental in developing interpretive and planning projects across a range of scales and contexts. With a unique blend of creativity and organizational prowess, she keeps teams moving forward with energy and focus.

She is driven by the power of landscape interventions to encourage spending time in place, to slow down and see the landscape from different perspectives than one might otherwise. She is also passionate about experimenting with tactile methods within the design process, and believes analog making is critical to imagining new futures, expanding relationships between people and place, and telling rich, cohesive stories.

Sydney has shared her favorite parts of working for TxT, along with some other fun facts:

Collaborating with the TxT team is incredibly inspiring and fulfilling. I learn so much from my teammates every day, from navigating new technologies to facing challenges with grace and confidence.

What is your favorite seasonal activity? I love ice skating at parks around Minneapolis. This year I plan to work on my backward skating skills!  

What is a new place you visited this year? I was in Bentonville this spring and went to the Crystal Bridges Museum. The outdoor installations and nature trails are magical- especially James Turrell’s “SkySpace”. 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Trying new plant varieties in my garden. This year I grew Mexican sunflowers that towered above me and attracted more bumblebees and butterflies than I could count.
